If one day humans should succeed in making sentient robots, are we then obligated to give them equal rights, or treat them as lower life forms unworthy of the respect we accord to our own race simply because we created them? Is it fair to them, then? Will they start demanding minority rights?
Just a thought.
Anyway this week's been fairly-but-not-quite busy. We've got 3 reading lists' worth of poetry to read. RALA received our reading lists 3 days ago, and by the same night my classmates'd sent out all the poems to the rest of the class via yahoogroups. (Yes, we're crazy enthu people.) Being in the company of RALAians actually feels rather weird - we're a small group so everyone knows everyone else, and there's this odd sense of familiarity even if you're not particularly close. It's a nice feeling, anyway.
