I AM DAMN PISSED.

I was at the supermarket just now buying groceries and decided to use the self-pack counter (ie. you bring them a basket, they scan your groceries and put them back into the basket together with a couple of plastic bags. Then you pay for everything and head for the self-packing station (which is just a long table for you to pack everything into the bags), pack everything, put back your basket and leave).

Everything was fine until I reached the self-packing station and realised that the entire place was crowded with empty baskets. I had to shove the other baskets elsewhere before I had enough space to put down my own. There were two other aunties packing their stuff there. They watched me struggle and apparently it didn't occur to any of them to help. Which is fine because they aren't obligated to, but then after that one of them finished packing and yup, you guessed it - SHE LEFT HER BASKET THERE TOO.

Excuse me, but HOW HARD IS IT TO JUST PUT THE DAMN BASKET WHERE IT BELONGS (which happens to be the collection point right beside the table)?!

So I started stomping around (which is kind of hard to do when you're limping), stacking up the baskets and putting them at the collection point to clear the space. The other auntie got ready to leave (also without putting back her basket) and I picked it up and rather noisily dropped it on top of the other baskets to get my message across.

She stared at me placidly while I picked up all the stacked baskets and limped to the collection point.

WALAOEH. PEOPLE WORK THERE IS IT, MUST HELP YOU PUT BACK YOUR BASKET MEH!

Pfft. Old people are always writing in to the Forum to complain about young people being inconsiderate just because they saw a few young people not giving up their priority seats. By that same logic, I can argue that old (by old, I mean 40 and up) people are inconsiderate too. Young people just don't write in to the papers because THEY HAVE BETTER THINGS TO DO, LIKE CLEARING THEIR OWN SHOPPING BASKETS.
